In June 2017, the city of Milan welcomed two international delegations to promote the Sharing Cities project and Milan’s Smart City approach with an underlying objective of scaling-up solutions and creating international connections.
On 6 June, the Seoul Metropolitan Government visited Milan thanks to an exchange programme promoted by a partnership with the French Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA). Clara Callegaris, the Head of Smart City Unit of Milan Municipality started by describing the local policy and the main Smart City innovative initiatives carried on by the administration.
Susanna Molteni, project officer described Sharing Cities’ objectives and measures, highlighting the replication opportunities and eventually proposing to Seoul representatives the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding in order to become a scale-up city. Besides Sharing Cities, several projects were mentioned: Open Agri, an Urban Innovative Action on periurban agriculture, a civic crowdfunding initiative, a local initiative for financing innovative projects with a high social impact.
On 22 June, a delegation of Entreprises & Media Association, which gathers communication directors of French and international big companies, came to Milan. The aim of the association is to promote study trips for gathering experiences and knowledge of projects to anticipate or support actual and future trends with a private stakeholder perspective. This meeting was an opportunity for the city administration to connect with global industries focusing particularly on mobility measures.
