A two-day forum “On our way to becoming smarter cities” took place in the Flora Expo Center in Burgas, as a part of the activities of the Burgas municipality related to the “Sharing cities” project (financed under the Horizon 2020 Program of EU) started at the beginning of 2016.
Representatives from partnering in the project organizations: EUROCITIES, e-Nova -Lisbon, Cefriel and Teicos –Milan; the municipality of Warsaw; as well as people from the IT businesses: VIVACOM, HUAWEI, Microsoft, SIEMENS, HP, Tickey, 2 plus, Intracom ORAC group, Kontrax, Busoft engineering, Technologika, Eurotrust and En-effect in Bulgaria shared knowledge and experience together with representatives from a number of Bulgarian municipalities for implementing intelligent solutions in urban environment.
Тhe introduction of Burgas Municipality electronic administrative services with a qualified signature directly from a mobile application was discussed. The floor for presentations was given to the students with awarded during the Burgas Summer HECKATON concepts for environmental IT smart solutions.
The forum program covered interesting topics for discussions between the sessions, such as “Electro mobility – business or hobby”; “Intelligent software apps – transformation of the peoples’ mind” and different presentations: “Intelligent city parking system based on innovative sensors”, “Situational platform for integrated city management”, “Secure city”, “Cloud Storage and File-Sharing Services”, “Safe Municipality”, etc.
The development of Burgas vision and strategic goals as a smart city was presented by Daniela Aleksieva – Local project manager on behalf of Municipality of Burgas and Ivelina Strateva – Director of “Economics and business activities Municipal Directorate.
The ideas for sharing knowledge across European and Bulgarian cities for implementation of smart solutions in the field of e-mobility, intelligent energy management systems, buildings renovation, smart street poles and intelligent solutions for urban life quality improvement were evaluated the participants as a brilliant opportunity for fostering the potential of the cities by the support of the innovative market.
