On 8 and 9 November, the City of Warsaw, in cooperation with the French Embassy and UNEP/GRID Warsaw, will organise a conference which will look at “Innovative Eco-cities: healthy environment, healthy people”.
It will gather European and Polish cities, public institutions, companies, urban partners, scientific institutions and NGOs with an aim of focussing on the urban agenda and how to reach the sustainable goals set by the United Nations. The conference will include the award ceremony for the Eco-Miasto contest for cities and schools, as well as several thematic sessions and workshops on topics such as the adaptation of cities to climate change, reduction of emissions, urban revitalization, greening of urban space, sustainable mobility policies, urban infrastructure and resource management (circular economy), and the role of ICT and open data in building healthy cities.
On the second day, Sharing Cities will organise a workshop on “Smart cities solutions – transportation and related issues (Sharing Cities project )”, from 11:30 to 13:10. This workshop, moderated by Bernadett Köteles-Degrendele, will include short presentations from Lisbon, London, Milan and Warsaw before participants split into smaller groups to discuss how to set ambitious goals and undertake appropriate actions to achieve them.
